IFRA Cites Heidner’s Proven Industry Experience and Unwavering Commitment to Small Business as Key Factors for Support

SPRINGFIELD, IL — The Illinois Fuel and Retail Association (IFRA) today officially announced its endorsement of Rick Heidner for the Republican nomination for Governor of Illinois in the upcoming 2026 primary election.

The IFRA, a leading voice for the state’s petroleum distributors and convenience store operators, chose to back Heidner based on his unique, firsthand experience in the fuel and retail sectors. Heidner’s career trajectory—spanning from his early days as a janitor to his success as a CEO—provides him with a “ground-level understanding” of the practical challenges facing both employers and workers in the current economic climate.

“Rick understands the fuel and retail industry not from theory, but from firsthand experience,” the IFRA stated in the endorsement. “Having practiced in both a fuel distribution company as well as building a respected gas station and convenience store brand, Rick knows what it takes to run a business in Illinois”.

The association emphasized that the fuel and retail industries are essential pillars of the Illinois economy, employing thousands of residents and serving millions of customers daily. The IFRA believes Heidner is uniquely positioned to advocate for policies that foster entrepreneurship and economic opportunity across the state.

“Rick brings real-world business experience, a deep knowledge of our industry, and a commitment to ensuring that employers can succeed while serving their communities,” the association added.
